Well, I gotta tell you today I was struck by my reading. Which is a good thing. I mean, you need to feel something when you read God's word. At least some sort of emotion should be evoked when the Creator of the universe is speaking through His text!!!
So...enough about that, this is what I read...
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." Jeremiah 1:5
Okay, how cool is that? I mean with all the things that need to be taken care of, God was thinking of me back in 1976 when I was in the womb and even before that. He knew how I was going to be wired. Who I was going to become. How I would love my wife. How we would meet. There is something very warm and "wool sweater" about that. I mean, God was all about me at that point in history and still is.
I want to focus on the last part today. "...I knew you."
"Hey, I think I knew you in High school."
"I think we have met."
"I think I knew that about you."
"I knew you were like that."
All of these lines we have heard before. The funny thing is no matter how well you know someone, you really don't know them as good as God does. There is something very powerful about that.
Sometimes I think about what Elizabeth, my baby girl, will do with her life. Will she be a tennis player...I sure hope so. Will she play the piano...if I can help it. What kind of relationship will be have...hope we are so close!!!
Despite who she is now and who she will be in the future, I know that God knows her better. And I am so thrilled about that. I am thrilled for her that I can one day tell her the story of the struggle of getting pregnant and finally, in God's timing, having her and how she had been prayed for even before she was in her mommy's belly.
::Deep sigh::
I am in love with the fact that my God is sovereign. That he is the only...he is the forever...he is my all.
Resting in the fathers arms!!!
